“It was a total loss when we got on scene,” said East Wise firefighter Travis Hull, who held command at the scene. “There was nothing to go into.”

Hull noted there was a power line down on the back corner of the house.

Wise County Assistant Fire Marshal J.C. Travis said Thursday afternoon that the cause of the blaze was undetermined.

“There was so much damage that it’s tough to pin down,” Travis said. “Nobody had lived in the house in close to a year. It’s an open investigation.”
