A Bridgeport man was among three people injured in a crash Friday night in south Wise County.
The wreck happened around 9:15 p.m. on Texas 199 just north of the Wise/Parker county line.
According to Gary M. Rozzell, public information officer and senior trooper at the Texas Department of Public Safety office in Mineral Wells, a Chrysler 300 passenger car driven by Yibran Campos, 24, of Bridgeport was eastbound on Texas 199 when it drifted across the center stripe and collided head-on with a westbound Chrysler PT Cruiser driven by Crystal Rose, 33, of Springtown.
The collision forced Rose’s vehicle off the north side of the roadway while Campos’ vehicle continued about 100 yards down the highway before it came to rest facing westbound off the north side of the roadway.
Boonsville, Salt Creek and Poolville fire departments responded to tend to the victims and help with traffic control. Two people were trapped and had to be extricated from the vehicles. Two Wise County EMS ambulances were also dispatched to the scene. A Lifeteam helicopter was also launched, but it was later determined not to be medically necessary.
Campos, Rose and a passenger in Rose’s vehicle, Rocky Rose, 30, also of Springtown, were taken by ground ambulance to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth where they were treated and released over the weekend.
Traffic was reduced to one lane for about two hours while officers conducted their investigation and the scene was cleared.
Rozzell said DPS Trooper Beau Bridgeman is continuing the crash investigation, and charges could be filed.
