BRIDGEPORT

HEALTH UNIT – The Texas Health Wellness for Life mobile unit will be in Bridgeport 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 10, as part of the Rodeo Pink festivities during Butterfield Stage Days. The mobile unit provides screening digital mammograms and well-woman exams and take-home colon cancer screening kits. To make an appointment, call 1-855-318-7696. Patients will need to bring their insurance card and a form of identification. Insurance will be direct billed for those who have it; women without insurance may qualify for sponsored screens.

BUTTERFIELD FESTIVAL – The 32nd Annual Butterfield Stage Days Festival is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 10, at Harwood Park in Bridgeport. Contests include the second annual rib cook-off, the Battle of the Boot pancake-eating contest, stickhorse rodeo and the Rodeo Pink 5K Run/Walk. There will also be food and craft booths, bounce houses, live entertainment, a petting zoo, kiddie train, carnival, Lone Star Legacy Gunfighters, a Stagecoach photo op and touch-a-truck. STICK HORSE RODEO – The Butterfield Stage Days Stick Horse Rodeo for cowboys and cowgirls 6 and under is 11:30 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at the Main Stage, with registration at 11 a.m. Events include grand entry, best costume, bronc bustin’ and barrel racin’. RIB COOKOFF – The 2nd Annual Rib Cookoff at the Butterfield Stage Days Festival is Saturday, May 10, at Harwood Park in, Bridgeport. The Judges Pick winners will earn $750 cash for first place, $500 for second and $250 for third. Entry fee is $75 per team. PRCA RODEO – The 8th Annual Butterfield Stage Days Karl Klement PRCA Ram rodeo is 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 9, and Saturday, May 10, at Sunset Retreat Arena, formerly Bridgeport Riding Club Arena, 691 FM 920. Tickets are $10 if purchased before May 9 at the Bridgeport Chamber Office. Entry at the gate is $12 nightly. Children 5 and under are free.

RODEO PINK 5K – The Rodeo Pink Fun Run/Walk is Saturday, May 10. Registration is at 7:30 a.m., and the race begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Harwood Park pavilion. There will be a survivor celebration walk at 7:45 a.m. around the Harwood Park loop. Cost is $30. Registration forms are available at the Bridgeport Area Chamber of Commerce. MOVIE IN THE PARK – Bridgeport Parks and Recreation will have a free showing of “Frozen” Saturday, May 17, at Harwood Park. There will be concessions, activities and games at 7:30 p.m., and the movie starts at dusk.

CHICO

CHICO CHAMBER – Chico Chamber of Commerce will hold a luncheon noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at the Senior Citizens Building on the Chico Square. Cost is $7 per plate, and Royce Cantwell, general manager of Wise Electric, will be guest speaker.

DECATUR

FOOD DRIVE – Decatur letter carriers and the Decatur Post Office will be collecting food Saturday, May 10, as part of the National Association of Letter Carriers’ annual “Stamp Out Hunger” food drive, which is held across the U.S. Residents may leave non-perishable food in a bag by their mailbox, and the letter carrier will pick it up. Local donations will be given to the Wise Area Relief Mission.

BASKETBALL CAMP – Coach Drew Coffman and staff will host the Decatur Eagle Mini Basketball Camp with the following sessions: Shooting Skills, May 12; Ball Handling Skills, May 19; and Overall Skill Development, May 26. Each session is 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Decatur High School gym, and boys enrolled in kindergarten through sixth grade may participate. Cost is $20 per night, or $50 for all three. Register 30 minutes prior to the start of a session or mail registration before May 8 to Drew Coffman, 601 Valleyridge Ct., Decatur, TX 76234.

3-ON-3 – The second annual Back to Summer Bash 3-on-3 basketball tournament is Friday, May 23, at Decatur High School. Check-in is at 4 p.m., and games start at 5. All entries must be received by May 22. Those registering by May 15 will get T-shirts. Divisions include men, women, coed and youth, divided by grade level. CLAY SHOOT – Wise County Committee on Aging is having a clay shoot to benefit Meals on Wheels Saturday, May 10, at Fossil Pointe Sporting Grounds, 7282 FM 51, between Slidell and Decatur. Registration is at 1:30 p.m., and the shoot starts at 2. Cost is $500 to enter a team of five. Cost to sponsor a station is $125. Small concessions will be available. IMMUNIZATION CLINIC – The Texas Department of State Health Services will host an immunization clinic 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 13, at First Baptist Church, 1200 Preskitt Road in Decatur. Cost is $10 per child or $20 per family; a parent must be present and the child must be VFC eligible. Parents are asked to bring the child’s shot record. NORTHWEST

STEM SHOWCASE – The Academy of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) invites community members to the annual STEM Showcase 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, May 15, at Northwest High School in Justin. From engineering to mathematics projects, students will showcase their best work from this school year.
