BRIDGEPORT

CAR WASH – Balsora Baptist Church youth group is having a car wash 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 27, at Auto Zone in Bridgeport. Donations will be accepted and will go toward a mission trip.

MOM/SON EVENT – Bridgeport Parks and Recreation will host a mom/son ice cream and pool party 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday, July 11, at Bridgeport City Pool. There will be games, ice cream sundaes, swimming and giveaways. Cost is $10 per couple and $5 for each additional son. Tickets are available at City Hall and the pool.

KIDS CAMP – The Bridgeport Parks and Recreation Kids Camp is 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday through Aug. 15 at Bridgeport Elementary. Participants will take field trips to the Fort Worth Zoo, AT&T Stadium, Keller Pointe Water Park, the Fort Worth Children’s Museum and Go Bonkers. Weekly cost is $75 per child. COTTONDALE

FIREFIGHTERS NEEDED – Cottondale Volunteer Fire Department is conducting its semi-annual search for new members. Applications are being accepted through Saturday, July 5. New applicants are subjected to a background check, interviews and an orientation before training begins. Applications are available online at cottondalefirerescue.org or at the station. DECATUR

SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT – The Decatur Police Department and the Decatur Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association are accepting team registration and sponsorship forms for the 2nd Annual Back The Blue coed softball tournament to be held Saturday, June 28, at Renshaw Park in Decatur. EDC SURVEY – The Decatur Economic Development Corp. invites residents and those who work in the Decatur area to participate in a survey that will be used by consultants to help the EDC identify target audiences and develop strategies for improving the community’s business climate, quality of life, education, workforce development, infrastructure and marketing activities. WISE COUNTY

VINTAGE MARKET – Petticoats on the Prairie, a premier vintage market of West Texas, will set up noon to 6 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Decatur Civic Center. There will be vintage and repurposed antiques and furniture, handmade goods, rusty and weathered treasures and “cool junk.” Admission is $6. COLLEGE REGISTRATION – Face-to-face advising and registration for summer 2 (July 9-Aug. 14) and fall courses (beginning Aug. 25) at Weatherford College Wise County is underway. IMMUNIZATION CLINIC – The Texas Department of State Health Services will sponsor an immunization clinic 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, at the First Baptist Church, 1200 Preskitt Road, in Decatur. Parents are asked to bring the child’s shot record. Participants must be VFC eligible.

TASTE OF WISE – Organizers of the 4th Annual Taste of Wise County are looking for restaurants, caterers and food/drink facilities to participate in the tasting event, which is 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 28, at the Decatur Civic Center. Admission is $5. There will be live entertainment from local artists Dakota Burns, Brandon Gentry, Cody Robbins and Megan Nichols Adams. TECHNOPALOOZA – Northwest ISD will host Technopalooza, a summer conference that teaches educators how to integrate learning with technology July 30-31 at Byron Nelson High School, 2775 Bobcat Blvd., in Trophy Club. The conference will feature presentations for the first-time educator to the veteran teacher. Keynote speaker is Dr. Sheryl Absire, chief technology officer of Calcasieu Parish Schools, and there will be giveaways, T-shirts, food trucks and the opportunity to pre-register for the 2015 TechnoPalooza Conference featuring keynote speaker Dave Burgess.
