GT NOMINATIONS – Bridgeport ISD will accept gifted and talented referral forms for students in kindergarten through 11th grade until Jan. 31. CHAMBER BANQUET – The Bridgeport Chamber of Commerce Casino Royale annual banquet is 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 8, at Decatur Civic Center. There will be food, awards, casino games, live and silent auctions, live entertainment and a raffle, including the chance to win a trip to Las Vegas or $1,000 cash. Dress is Bridgeport casual. CHAMBER LUNCHEON – The Decatur Chamber of Commerce luncheon is 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28, at the Decatur Civic Center, and the 2014 board of directors will be installed. RSVP by Friday, Jan. 24, to the Chamber office at 940-627-3107.

BOOK SALE – Decatur Public Library will host a used book sale during library hours Jan. 29 and Feb. 1. Exclusive Friends of the Library Preview Night is 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28. DADDY DAUGHTER DANCE – Decatur Junior Woman’s Club 8th Annual Daddy Daughter Dance, “One Enchanted Evening,” is 6 to 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Decatur Civic Center. Tickets will be available at the door.

NO FINES – Decatur Public Library offers Amnesty! now through Feb. 3. Bring back your long overdue library materials and pay no fines. Simply bring a canned good for each $10 value of the library material along with the items. Fines will be forgiven, and Wise Area Relief Mission will benefit as we help to restock their shelves. COMMUNITY EDUCATION – The next installment in the community health series will be 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at Governor’s Ridge Retirement and Assisted Living Community, 300 E. Devereaux St., in Decatur. The topic is “eating for your health,” and Tanya Davis of the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of Wise County will share tips for healthy eating and meal planning. YOUTH FAIR ENTRIES – Entries opened Jan. 6 for the 2014 Wise County Youth Fair, which is March 1-8. 4-H, FFA and FCCLA members have until 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, to enter online at Entry fees can be paid online with a credit or debit card or they can be mailed to Wise County Youth Fair, P.O. Box 1062, Decatur, TX 76234. Checks, money orders or cashier’s checks will be accepted. Do not send cash. All payments by mail must be received by the entry deadline (Feb. 1) and should include a printed entry receipt. If you need help entering the Youth Fair, contact your ag teacher, FCCLA sponsor or 4-H leader. NORTHWEST READS – The Northwest ISD Partners in Education program seeks volunteers for the sixth annual Northwest Reads 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 23. Participants will choose from a variety of books to read to pre-kindergarten through fifth-grade students at one of the school district’s 17 elementary schools. This event provides community members with an opportunity to inspire young NISD students to become lifelong readers. For more information, call 817-215-0172.

MOBILE APP – Northwest ISD will release the second phase of its mobile app on Wednesday, Jan. 22.
