Willie “Red” Mitchell

Willie “Red” Mitchell, 85, a retired plant manager, died Wednesday, May 28, 2014, in Bridgeport.

Funeral is 2 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport. Longtime friend Danny Deen will speak.

Red was born May 12, 1929, to Johnny and Julie (Covey) Mitchell in Ralls. He married Dorothy Sturdivant Dec. 24, 1969, in Glen Rose. Red was a retired plant manager for Dean Meat Co. in Fort Worth.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son Troy Allen Mitchell; daughter Linda Stokes; and brothers Jr. and Kenneth Mitchell.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Dorothy Mitchell of Runaway Bay; sons Willie Mitchell Jr. and wife, Stacy, of Azle, Donnie Mitchell of Paradise, John Mitchell of Roanoke, George Dunn and wife, Tammie, of Washington, and Eddie Dunn and wife, Clarice, of Washington; daughters Jerrie Tinney of Olney and Juanita Dunn of Washington; brother Melvin Mitchell and wife, Loretta, of Bridgeport; sisters Helen Louise Clark of Decatur, Nancy Meadows and husband, Roger, of Bridgeport, Mary Lou Wojick and husband, John, of Hurst; numerous grandchildren and greatgrandchildren; other family members, and a host of friends.
