Tom Y. Stephens, 92, of Chico died Saturday, April 19, 2014, in Decatur.
Funeral is 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, at Morris Memorial United Methodist Church in Chico with the Rev. Rick Davis officiating. Burial will follow at Chico Cemetery.
Pallbearers are Stephen Martin, Brad Stephens, Jared Scobee, Paul Wombles, Donnie Stephens and Tommy Nichols.
Tom was born July 23, 1921, in Lubbock to Sydney and Lola (Young) Stephens. He married Melba Meek Jan. 1, 1941, in Waurika, Okla. Tom was a retired postmaster and worked for the Grapevine Post Office. He was a member of the Morris Memorial United Methodist Church in Chico and the Lions Club of Grapevine. Tom proudly served his country in the United States Army Air Force.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Tom is survived by his wife of 73 years, Melba Stephens of Chico; daughters Jeana Wilt and husband, Todd, of Chico and JoAnn Scobee and husband, Mike, of Runaway Bay; sons Tommy Y. Stephens Jr. and wife, Shari, of Fredericksburg and Jerry Stephens of Chico; grandchildren Stephen, Lisa, Brad, Megan, and Jared; 11 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
