Thomas Garcia, 83, died Tuesday, May 6, 2014, in Sunset.
Graveside service is 10 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at Montague Catholic Cemetery with Father Richard Collins officiating. Burial is under the direction of White Family Funeral Home of Bowie.
Thomas was born March 11, 1931, in New York City to Thomas and Laura (Tubens) Garcia. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps for 20 years and retired in 1968 as a gunnery sergeant.
Thomas received his masters in education at Florida International University in Miami. He was an instructor at Geo T. Baker Aviation College in Miami for 23 years, then worked as a case manager for the Federal Emergency Management Agency in Denton and was a substitute teacher for schools in Bowie and Wise County.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Ed Garcia.
Thomas is survived by his wife of 19 years, Pat Garcia of Sunset; children Tom Garcia and wife, Gingerlee, of Richlands, N.C., Laura Garcia of Sun City, Fla., David Fletcher and wife, LaDonna, of Krum, and Suzanne Hageman and husband, Randy, of Pratt, Kan.; grandchildren Thomas Garcia of Vallejo, Calif., Jonathan Garcia of Sun City, Fla., Dianna Garcia of Sun City, Fla., Kimberly Goodman and husband, Bobby, of Chandler, Katherine Fletcher of Krum, Rystal and Payton Hoeme of Pratt, Kan., and Caden Schowergerdt of Pratt, Kan.; great-grandchildren Tomas and Nicholas Garcia of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Isabel Garcia of Wilmington, N.C.; and the mother of his children, Felicia Garcia of Miami.
