Pearl Naomi Cox, 93, the oldest resident of Slidell, died Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, in Decatur.

No service is planned at this time.

Pearl was born Jan. 31, 1921, in Mount Morris, Mich., to Isaac and Lola (Jessop) Smith. She married Dick Telford Cox June 20, 1942, in Kirksville, Md. Pearl was a retired nurse.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dick Cox; four brothers; two sisters; and a grandson.

She is survived by her daughters, Sharon McFarlane of Slidell and Shirley Cox of Denton; son Lary Cox of Alvord; sister Wanda Moen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; grandchildren Tom McFarlane, Ann Bartis, Jody Boyce, Juanita Johnson, Heath Cox and Christie Vasquez; 16 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
