Pauline L. Mitchell

Pauline L. Mitchell, 94, a retired secretary and homemaker, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2014, in Bridgeport.

Funeral is 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport with Jerry Hines and John Hogan officiating. Burial will follow at Moore Memorial Gardens in Arlington.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Pauline was born Dec. 18, 1919, in Yalobusha County, Miss., to Ira and Bertha (Kilgore) Lane. She married Arnold Mitchell June 11, 1943, in Tallahatchie, Miss. She moved from Hurst in 2000 to be with her family.

Pauline was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bridgeport.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 44 years, Arnold Mitchell; son Arnold Wayne Mitchell; brother George William Lane; and her sister, Claudine Mitchell.

Her spirit is carried on by the family she adored: son Gary Mitchell and wife, Deitra, of Bridgeport; three grandchildren and their spouses; seven great-grandchildren; brothers Ira Lane Jr. and wife, Janice, of Nashville, Tenn., James Deon Lane and wife, Joyce, of Clinton, Miss., John Kenneth Lane and wife, Rachel, of Scobey, Miss.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Her family said they are forever blessed having her in their lives, and they will miss her joy, strength, spirit and love.
