Mildred Wilkerson Vick died Friday, May 23, 2014, at the age of 97.
Graveside service was May 27 at Azleland Cemetery with burial under the direction of Biggers Funeral Home.
Mildred was born Nov. 26, 1916, at Knob Hill to Bill and Atris Nix Wilkerson. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and teacher, having taught for 37 years, and she kept in touch with many of her Decatur and Eagle Mountain Elementary students. She was honored and humbled when they named a building at Eagle Mountain Elementary after her.
Mildred was a graduate of Springtown High School and North Texas State College (now the University of North Texas) where she met her loving husband of 48 years, Harold Vick, who preceded her in death. Mildred was a member of the Saginaw United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Brown and husband, Ron, and Jane Crawford and husband, Art; grandchildren Joe Crawford and wife, Kerri, Vicky Trichel and husband, Gerry, Tammy Frazier and husband, Larry, and Tommy Brown and wife, Stacy; as well as great-grandchildren Jake Crawford, Grant, Garrison and Gage Trichel, Grady and Chase Frazier and Vivian Brown.
The family suggested that best way to honor Mildred’s memory would be by doing a kind deed for a child. Memorials may be made to the Saginaw United Methodist Church or the Eagle Mountain-Saginaw Educational Foundation.
