Louis Edward Newton III

Louis Edward Newton III, 69, of Bridgeport, died Tuesday, March 4, 2014, in Decatur.

Funeral is 2 p.m. Friday, March 7, at Pleasant View Baptist Church in Bridgeport with Brother Gary Demmitt officiating. Burial will follow at Eastside Cemetery.

Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Pallbearers are Brian Newton, Lee Newton, Karl Brown, Dyllan Burcham, Clay Burcham, Jon Newton and Josh Newton.

Louis was born Dec. 29, 1944, in Haskell to Mildred (Blackburn) and Louis E. Newton Jr. He married Matilda Cash June 4, 1966, in Bridgeport.

He was previously employed by Kenneth Copeland Ministries in Newark. He served his country in the Air Force from July 1965 through July 1971. He was a member of the Pleasant View Baptist Church and a member of the Off-380 Players who enjoyed acting, painting, drawing and gardening.

Louis is survived by his wife of 47 years; sons Brian Aaron Newton and wife, Kari, and Lee Edward Newton and wife, Lauren; daughter Sara Elizabeth Burcham and husband, Clay; brothers Tommy Newton and wife, Janie, and Johnny Newton and wife, Veta; grandchildren Dyllan and Keeli Burcham, Emilee, Jon and Josh Newton, Gavin Norman and Brayden and Cloee Newton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
