Lloyd Boyce Fenn, 76, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, son and friend, died Wednesday, Jan. 29, 2014.
Funeral is 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Decatur. Burial will follow at Oaklawn Cemetery under the direction of Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Kevin Fenn, Walter Fenn, Thomas Antonucci, Larry Martin, Matthew Humble and Brett Butler.
Boyce was born July 17, 1937, in Pomerene, Ariz., to Walter Leroy and Emma Leona (Morris) Fenn. He grew up in Pomerene as the youngest of 10 children.
He attended the University of Arizona in Tucson, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. He continued his studies at the University of California Riverside where he earned master’s and doctoral degrees in soil chemistry.
During this time, Boyce met and then married his sweetheart, Lewella Arrington, in the Mesa Arizona LDS temple Jan. 31, 1962. Together they became the loving parents to six children.
Boyce was a life-long faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He also had a distinguished career as a soil scientist for Texas A&M University.
Lewella predeceased Boyce two years ago on Feb. 2, 2012. He was fortunate to find happiness again in his second marriage to Roselyn Stevens of West Jordan, Utah, on June 22, 2012.
He is survived by his loving wife, Roselyn Fenn; children Walter Fenn and wife, Cheryl, Kevin Fenn and wife, Sheree, Tanna Antonucci and husband, Thomas, Erin Humble and husband, Matthew, Teresa Martin and husband, Larry, and Debra Butler and husband, Brett.
He is also survived by 26 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother Waldo Fenn; and sister Margorie Andersen of Pomerene, Ariz.
Boyce was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Lewella; his parents; brothers Max, Golden, Jedde, Clarence and Toby; sisters Kathleen and Drucilla; and grandson Jacob Butler.
