Kenneth Russell, 91, died peacefully Tuesday, May 6, 2014, after a brief illness.
Graveside service was May 9 at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Sunset with burial under the direction of White Family Funeral Home in Bowie.
Kenneth was born Dec. 14, 1922, in Sunset to Lige and Bertha (Hill) Russell. He attended school at Scrougy, Lake Valley and Bowie and graduated from Sunset High School in 1941. He served his country in the United States Army and participated in the D-Day invasion on June 7, 1944.
Kenneth worked for 43 years at General Dynamics, and after retirement, he enjoyed truck farming. He lived in Newark from 1952 until 1964 and moved back to Sunset where he lived until his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Estie Leta Russell; son William David Russell; a brother; and a sister.
Kenneth is survived by one son, Danny Russell, and wife, Doris, of Sunset; grandsons Bryan and Kevin Russell; and great-grandchildren Kayleigh and Cole Tillery and McKenna Russell, all of Sunset.
