Joe Lee Coursey, 81, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at his home in Bridgeport.
Funeral was Jan. 10 at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport with Pastor Joey Vick officiating. Burial followed at Thomas Cemetery.
Joe Lee was born July 2, 1932, in Bridgeport to Kossie Lee and Leta Mae (Hudson) Coursey. He was an inspector for the highway department.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, and on June 29, 1956, he married Francis Lucille Cash. He was an active member of Cuba Baptist Church in Bridgeport for many years and also served as a deacon.
Joe Lee is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lucille Coursey of Bridgeport; daughter Frances Jolene Spicer of Bridgeport; brothers Billy Don, Travis and Larry Coursey, all of Bridgeport; sisters Peggy Klasky of Richardson, Q’zella Lewis of Navasota, Lynda Byrd of Bridgeport and Sherry Lemon of Bridgeport; grandchildren Nathan Lee Spicer, Aaron Ryan Spicer, Daniel Ray Coursey and Stacy Jo (Coursey) Munoz; and great-granddaughters April, Janet, Danielle, Tabitha, Melina and Maylee.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son David Coursey; and brother Jimmie.
