Esperanza “Hope” Garza

Esperanza “Hope” Garza, 64, died Thursday, Jan. 2, 2014, in Bridgeport.

Funeral is 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at Pleasant View Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary Demmitt officiating. Burial will follow at Mexican Cemetery.

Visitation is 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.

Pallbearers will be Jacob Luevanos, Jesus Rodriguez, Jonathan Garza, Anthony Scott Smith, Oscar Luevanos, Ralla Hankins, Jr. Sparks, Braden Liner, Reynal Garza and Ruben James Dunlap.

Hope was born June 23, 1949, in Bridgeport to Frank and Victoria (Casillas) Martinez. She married Lorenzo Garza May 8, 1970, in Waurika, Okla., and was a housewife.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son Ray Garza; son-in-law Leonard Eugene Dunlap; brothers George, Raymond, Johnny and Phillip Martinez; and sister Josie Cant .

Survivors include her husband, Lorenzo Garza Sr. of Bridgeport; son Lorenzo “Dirt” Garza Jr. and wife, Lisa, of Bridgeport; daughters Cynthia Rodriquez and Felix Mendoza of Fort Worth, Maria Garza and husband, Randall Smith, of Bridgeport, Cicilia “CiCi” Liner of Fort Worth, Veronica Garza P rez of Fort Worth, and Guadalupe Martinez and husband. Carlos Sr., of Fort Worth; 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brothers Anselmo Martinez and wife, Guadelupe, Daniel Martinez and Bobby Martinez; sisters Carmen Cox and husband, Eddie, Connie Rodriguez and husband, Raul, Carol Martinez, Paula Martinez, and Lilly Pe a and husband, John; and other family members and friends.
