Donald Ray Nimmo

Donald Ray Nimmo, 75, died Wednesday, Aug. 6, 2014, at his home in Bridgeport.

Funeral is 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Jones Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport with the Rev. Sam Caldwell, pastor of the First United Methodist Church in Bridgeport, officiating. Wise County Sheriff David Walker will present the eulogy.

Visitation is at 1 p.m., an hour prior to the service, and burial is at East Bridgeport Cemetery.

Pallbearers are Willy T. Smith, Jody Brown, Bill Kersey, Dick Rogers, Charlie Uselton and Gary Early.

Don was born July 18, 1939, in Abilene to Robert M. and Nona (Niblett) Nimmo. He was an outgoing man who loved people and celebrating life. He married Ann Mann Aug. 27, 1960, in the First United Methodist Church in Bridgeport.

His hobbies included sports such as football, basketball, baseball, track and golf. He also enjoyed cooking, particularly for others. He was an educator with a doctorate in philosophy and a master’s degree in elementary education.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Roberta Ann (Mann) Nimmo; son Robert Nimmo and wife, Angie; daughter Dina Nimmo; sister Doris Denton and husband, Tommy; nephews Mike and Wayne Kennemer and their families; and grandchildren Haylee and Hayden Nimmo.

He was preceded in death by his parents; in-laws W.J. and Ovella Mann; and daughter Debra Ann Nimmo.
