The last of triplet brothers, Daniel Willett, 85, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, in Bowie.
Service is 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, at Calvary Baptist Church in Bowie, where Daniel retired after 40 years as music director and continued to sing in the choir. The Revs. Ron Abbott and Don Spain will officiate, and burial will be at 1:30 p.m. at Sunset Cemetery under the direction of Shaw’s Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be his sons-in-law and grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be Floyd Mouton, Matthew Sneath and Doyle Seigler.
Daniel was born Aug. 18, 1928, in Sunset to Buford Sr. and Gracie Bell Lee. After graduation from Bowie High School in 1946, he entered the Air Force in June of 1946 and was honorably discharged in June 1949.
He retired from General Dynamics in Fort Worth after 41 years as an electronic technician.
Daniel married Rosemary Cavasos Nov. 13, 1949. She preceded him in death in March of 2012. He was also preceded in death by his parents; daughter April Sneath; son Jarrod Willett; one sister; and seven brothers.
He is survived by daughters Maridan McLendon and husband, James, of Bowie, Gayla Mattix of Sunset and Glynna Preuninger and husband, Ricky, of Crowley; five grandchildren and their families: Jason, Renae, Brittanie and Lexie Mattix of Sunset, Mark, Elana, Kathryn and Adam Mattix of Sunset, Donald, Melody, Danielle and Timothy Preuninger of Crowley, Maria and Adam Dean of Crowley and Matthew, Caleb and Olivia Sneath of Burkburnett; sisters-in-law Ethel Willett of Houston, Juanita Willett of Sunset, Cathy Willett of Haltom City, Marie Willett of Haslet and Eloise Willett of Sunset; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, church family and friends.
