Memorial service for Bobby Dwayne McWhirter, 75, of Russellville, Ark., is 5:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 26, at Sunset Point at Mount Nebo State Park in Arkansas.

McWhirter died Sunday, Feb. 2, 2014, at Saint Mary’s Regional Medical Center in Russellville.

He was born Sept. 18, 1938, in Decatur to Marvin Clarence and Mary Ruth Smith McWhirter. He loved traveling, hunting, law enforcement and watching western movies, especially those featuring John Wayne.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Marvin McWhirter Jr.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Ellen Lesta McWhirter of Russellville, formerly of Clarendon, Ark.; children Craig McWhirter and wife, Dianna, Kellie Kite and Nena Kopecek and husband, Peter, all of Texas; adopted son Gary Branham and wife, Janet, of Missouri; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Cornwell Funeral Home and River Valley Cremations in Dardanelle are handing cremation services.
