Aleita Bell Houchens, 91, died Sunday, April 20, 2014, in Decatur.
Funeral is 2 p.m. Friday, April 25, at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport with the Rev. Joey Vick officiating. Burial will follow at West Bridgeport Cemetery.
Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers are John Simpson, John Simpson Jr., James Simpson, Kelvin Jack Swinney, Scott Langletz, Kenneth George Houchens and Kenneth Lee Vargas.
Bell was born May 19, 1922, in Bridgeport to George and Josy (Parsons) Boring. She married Kenneth Houchens, who preceded her in death in 1990. Bell was a retired teacher.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband David Whale; second husband Kenneth Houchens; daughter Hila Whale; grandsons Michael Whale and David Vargas; and siblings Arthur, Edward, George, Ernest, Amos, Albert, Brady, Truman, Horace, Delila, Viola, Laverne, Bula, Willie, Mary Inez and an infant sibling.
She is survived by her sons, Glen David Whale and wife, Barbie, of Minneapolis, Minn., Jerry Lee Whale and Sue Barr of Winchester, Va. and Kenneth George Houchens and wife, Brenda, of Decatur; daughter Linda Whale Vargas and husband, Cesar, of Decatur; grandchildren Michelle, Tanya, Shawn, Kenneth, Raquel, Nicolas, Alex, Austin, Georgeanna and Madison; great-grandchildren Isabelle, Iva Marie, Olivia, Lola and Gabriell; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
