Albert Preston Southard, 76, of Archer City died Sunday, May 18, 2014, at his residence.
Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 21, at the First Baptist Church of Archer City with Pastor Roger Deerinwater officiating. Burial will follow at the Archer City Cemetery under the direction of Aulds Funeral Home.
Pallbearers are Sam Berube, Richard Browning, Jimmy Davis, Mack Howell, Jackie Love and H.C. Walker.
Albert, one of 10 children, was born Oct. 30, 1937, in Point to William Oscar Southard and Eula Mae Oaks Southard. He and Audrey Byrd were married Sept. 23, 1961, in Durant, Okla. Albert, a former resident of Irving, was employed by the city of Irving. In 1970, he moved to Archer City and was employed as a pumper for Davis and Davis.
He enjoyed card games, Wahoo and coyote hunting with his greyhounds. He also loved motorcycles, old cars and trucks and could fix anything. His pride and joy were his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include wife Audrey of Archer City; sons Chester and wife, Beverly, of Archer City, Preston and wife, Dedra, of Windthorst, and Mark and wife, Jo Beth, of Decatur; daughter Stacy Atkins and husband, Sean Worley, of Archer City; sisters Ola Mae Barrick of Fort Worth and Margene Cotton of Irving; grandchildren Michael, Khrystal, Ashley, Cameron, Justin, Braden, Macie, Sarah, Ethan, Amber, Lauren and Trinity; great-grandchildren Brayson, Lukas and Kinzy; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers.
