Two Texas legends based in Wise County are teaming up to help their respective outfits become even better performers in today’s competitive atmosphere.
Trevor Brazile now is driving a diesel-powered GMC one-ton – provided by veteran truck dealer James Wood – as he heads for the next roping competition in his quest for a record 20th PRCA National Finals Rodeo world title.
“With Trevor being the champion that he is, it’s a no-brainer to partner him with our winning products,” said Wood, who owns a few winner’s belt buckles himself as a cutting horse rider. “It’s exciting to have him going down the road with the James Wood brand on his truck. We’re proud of what he’s done for Wise County.”
Brazile sees the partnership as a good fit.
“My reputation is my word, and James Wood lives by the same rule,” he said.
Brazile is the only cowboy to have earned 11 All-Around World Championships. He held the title from 2002 to 2004 and since 2006 has kept a grip on the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association top honor.
This year, he’s already earned three all-around titles at various events and shared in a fourth. Last year he took the top-cowboy honor at Bridgeport’s Butterfield Stage Days.
Career earnings for the unassuming Brazile total $5,000,000, including $426,000 he rang up last year. He competes in team-, tie down- and steer roping. Last year he was the top all-around cowboy for an eighth time at the National Finals in Las Vegas.
Wood’s dealerships in Decatur and Denton have received national recognition themselves for their no-pressure method of selling. Most sales from their huge inventory are to repeat or referred customers.
“Trevor is known for his ability to focus on getting the job done right,” Wood pointed out. “His company is called ‘B Relentless,’ and that really describes why he is a winner.
“On his website, he describes relentless as a point of view, a necessary part of being successful. He talks about the importance of representing only companies that have shown ‘effort, passion and focus’ in thoroughly developing their products,” Wood said. “We’re proud we qualify for his list.”
The newest Chevys and GMCs Wood sells are the result of a major manufacturing effort to remain the leader in driver convenience and satisfaction.
The 2014 half-tons have won national honors, and the innovative features in the 2015 heavy dutys will make getting to the rodeo on time and ready to rope a pleasant experience for Brazile and his crew.
“GMC and Chevy got it right,” Wood said.
Borrowing another phrase from his new partner, the master truck seller – famous for refusing to accept “just looking” as a potential customer’s final word – totally agrees with Brazile’s belief that “It’s amazing what happens when you just won’t give up.”
