Wreck slows traffic in Decatur

No serious injuries were reported in a two-vehicle accident in south Decatur Tuesday morning. According to Decatur Police Chief Rex  Hoskins, a gray SUV driven by Lillian Doubrava, 17, of Decatur was northbound in the inside lane of Farm Road 51 when she realized she needed to make a right turn onto Bennett Road. Hoskins said Doubrava moved into the outside lane where she was struck from behind by a white SUV driven by Jessica Craig, 25, of Decatur. The impact caused Doubrava’s vehicle to roll once and come to rest on its top. A child and another adult in Craig’s vehicle were taken to Wise Regional Health System. Hoskins said the injuries were not life-threatening. The accident shut down one lane of northbound traffic on FM 51 while the accident scene was cleared.

  1. Question out of curiosity on the legalities of this story. What circumstances have to happen for it to be legal to release the name of the 17 minor driver in this story.
    Like I said, just curious.

  2. Bob Buckel says:

Appreciate the comment. We don’t print the names of minors who are charged with crimes, but this young lady is not charged with a crime. She’s a licensed driver who’s been in an auto accident, and those names are public record, regardless of age. And as a matter of record, people aged 17 and up are not considered minors in criminal matters, either.
