A 42-year-old woman was flown to John Peter Smith Hospital after jumping out of a moving vehicle around 6:30 Thursday evening on Farm Road 730 south of Boyd.
The woman, whose name was not released, sustained head trauma and road rash, Wise County deputies on scene said.
Witnesses say the white Dodge pickup was northbound on FM 730 near W.N. Woody Road, traveling at a rate of about 50 miles per hour, when the woman jumped out of the car for unknown reasons.
Traffic was shut down in both directions of FM 730 for more than 30 minutes while the helicopter ambulance landed in a nearby field.
