A woman who escaped the custody of a Wise County Sheriff’s deputy Wednesday morning was found and arrested in Decatur between 6 and 6:30 p.m. Wednesday evening. Chandra Jasmine Gooch, 27, was taken into custody by the Wise County Sheriff’s Office about 10:15 Wednesday morning at the Adult Probation Office in Decatur for revocation of probation for possession of a dangerous drug, a Class A misdemeanor.

The officer placed Gooch in handcuffs and walked her outside the building to place her in the patrol car. Gooch broke free from the officer and ran. The officer pursued Gooch on foot but was unable to catch her, according to a Sheriff’s Office press release.

Decatur Police Department and additional Wise County sheriff’s deputies assisted in the day-long search.

In addition to revocation of probation, Gooch now also faces an escape charge.
