According to DPS Trooper Shawn Younger, a 2010 Chevy HHR was crossing from the northbound lane attempting to turn left onto County Road 1596 when the driver pulled out in front of a southbound 18-wheel tractor-trailer and was hit broadside in the passenger side. The two vehicles skidded together for about 100 yards until the car veered off to the right, and the truck turned over on its passenger side. The driver of the car died at the scene. The trucker, Jose Garcia of Houston, was not injured, although he was attended to by Wise County EMS.
