SEXUAL ABUSE TRIAL BEGINS – The sexual abuse of a child trial involving a Rhome man and his then-11-year-old daughter began Tuesday in 271st District Court in Decatur. Richard Lee Sherman is accused of sexually abusing his daughter over a six-month period at his Rhome home in 2010. The alleged victim testified that the abuse happened on three separate occasions. The state will continue presenting its case this morning. Sherman is represented by Decatur attorney Barry Green. Sexual abuse of a child continuous with a victim under 14 is a first degree felony.
PLAYOFF BASKETBALL – The Alvord Lady Bulldogs won 59-33 over Grandview last night in the first round of the playoffs while the Paradise Lady Panthers lost to Maypearl 58-50. The Decatur Eagles defeated Krum 68-45 to clinch the district championship.
