WARDEN INDICTED FOR ASSAULT – A Bridgeport man whose alleged actions resulted in two Decatur schools going on lockdown and ended after a standoff with police in Bridgeport has been indicted for aggravated assault against a public servant. The indictment states that on Jan. 22, James Marshall Warden Jr., 43, threatened officers by pointing and pulling the trigger of a rifle in the direction of officers during the standoff while the officers were investigating Warden for threatening to kill his wife. The weapon was not loaded. Aggravated assault against a public servant is a first degree felony.

RAINY MORNING – Rain and cooler temperatures moved in overnight. The rain is expected to stick around through midday with a high temperature of 48. Rainfall totals as of 7:30 a.m. included 0.35 of an inch in Rhome and 0.12 in Decatur.

BLOOD DRIVE – The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will host a Carter blood drive 5-8 tonight at 202 E. Thompson in Decatur. For more information call Laura Blaylock at (940) 368-3058.

ABWN MEETING – Wise County Area Business Women’s Network will meet at 11:45 a.m. Thursday at the Decatur Civic Center. John Robinson, JRobs Sports and Fitness, will present 7 Keys to Winning in the Game of Life. The meeting is open to all businesswomen. Reservations can be made at www.abwn.org. Also, April 12 is the application deadline for the ABWN Scholarship which is open to any current or previously graduated Wise County student. Application can be found online.

MEMORIAL BENEFIT – The Clay Anderson Memorial Concert and Benefit is Saturday at Bono’s Chophouse and Saloon in Decatur. A Working Man’s Truck Show is noon-7 p.m. Anyone interested in entering their semi truck should RSVP to Cody Howdeshell at (940) 389-3315 or Chris Fletcher at (817) 929-9161. The concert will feature Colt West at 7:30, Ryan Ready at 9 and the Joey Green Band at 10:30. The event will also feature a silent auction, PBR Vegas raffle, T-shirts, food and drinks. CLOSED FOR CONVERSION – The Wise County Clerk’s Office recording and vitals department will be closed on Friday for software/hardware system conversion and will reopen on Monday, April 15. The County Clerk court department will be open for regular business from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. (closed from noon-1 p.m. for lunch) on Friday.

ART SHOW – The Bridgeport ISD Art Show is 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday at the Bridgeport Community Center, 1102 Lawdwin Ave.

LIONS GOLF TOURNAMENT – Bridgeport Lions Club 27th Annual Eyeglass Golf Tournament is Saturday. The 3-person scramble will include tee times of 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. at the Bridgeport Country Club, 250 FM 2123. Registration is 7 a.m. Cost is $150 per team and $30 for a cart. HEALTH FAIR – The Wise County Health Fair is 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Decatur Civic Center. There will be free health screenings (carotid artery scans, vision, hearing, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, total cholesterol, PSA for men over 40, blood sugar), a blood drive, bone marrow donor registration, a drunk driving simulator and door prizes. Kids activities include Wii Fitness, face painting, balloon animals 4-H Plant Pals, fire truck and ambulance display and the landing of the Air Evac Lifeteam helicopter. The Family Fun Run is at 10:30 a.m., with registration at 9:45 a.m. Snacks and drinks provided. For more information, call (940) 627-3341.

BAKE SALE – The Paradise High School Relay For Life team will have a bake sale 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Wal-Mart. Team members will also sell T-shirts and glow-in-the-dark bracelets.

COMEDY NIGHT – Amigos of Wise County will have a comedy night for adults 18 and older from 8 to 10 p.m. Saturday at The Bridgeport Stage. There will be a raffle, food and drinks. Proceeds benefit the club’s scholarship fund. Tickets are $15 a person in advance at The Hair Shop, Wise Driving School and David Correll State Farm Insurance or $20 at the door.

MAGIC SHOW – Victory Family Church in Decatur presents a free magic show at 7 tonight. Families are invited to attend the event, called “Living Illusions,” which features an escape artist and an illusionist. The event will be held at the church located on U.S. 380 in Decatur. MEMORIAL service for Sylvia Ann Norris, 70, of Decatur is 5 p.m. Sunday at Coker-Hawkins.
