WARDEN INDICTED FOR ASSAULT – A Bridgeport man whose alleged actions resulted in two Decatur schools going on lockdown and ended after a standoff with police in Bridgeport has been indicted for aggravated assault against a public servant. The indictment states that on Jan. 22, James Marshall Warden Jr., 43, threatened officers by pointing and pulling the trigger of a rifle in the direction of officers during the standoff while the officers were investigating Warden for threatening to kill his wife. The weapon was not loaded. Aggravated assault against a public servant is a first degree felony.
RAINY MORNING – Rain and cooler temperatures moved in overnight. The rain is expected to stick around through midday with a high temperature of 48. Rainfall totals as of 7:30 a.m. included 0.35 of an inch in Rhome and 0.12 in Decatur.

MEMORIAL BENEFIT – The Clay Anderson Memorial Concert and Benefit is Saturday at Bono’s Chophouse and Saloon in Decatur. CLOSED FOR CONVERSION – The Wise County Clerk’s Office recording and vitals department will be closed on Friday for software/hardware system conversion and will reopen on Monday, April 15. The County Clerk court department will be open for regular business from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. (closed from noon-1 p.m. for lunch) on Friday.

LIONS GOLF TOURNAMENT – Bridgeport Lions Club 27th Annual Eyeglass Golf Tournament is Saturday. HEALTH FAIR – The Wise County Health Fair is 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Decatur Civic Center. There will be free health screenings (carotid artery scans, vision, hearing, blood pressure, pulse oximetry, total cholesterol, PSA for men over 40, blood sugar), a blood drive, bone marrow donor registration, a drunk driving simulator and door prizes. Kids activities include Wii Fitness, face painting, balloon animals 4-H Plant Pals, fire truck and ambulance display and the landing of the Air Evac Lifeteam helicopter. BAKE SALE – The Paradise High School Relay For Life team will have a bake sale 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Wal-Mart. Team members will also sell T-shirts and glow-in-the-dark bracelets.
COMEDY NIGHT – Amigos of Wise County will have a comedy night for adults 18 and older from 8 to 10 p.m. Saturday at The Bridgeport Stage. There will be a raffle, food and drinks.
