U.S. 380 remains closed Tuesday afternoon between Farm Road 1658 and County Road 3504 while officers continue to investigate a bomb threat at the Devon Energy gas plant, west of Bridgeport.
The Wise County Sheriff’s Office issued a press release just before 12:30 p.m. saying that security cameras are currently being reviewed, but at this time “there is no danger or threat to the public.” County dispatch received a call from Phil Ryan, head of security for Devon, at 8:38 a.m. in regard to the threat. The plant was already being evacuated, and shortly thereafter, sheriff’s deputies, the Bridgeport Police Department, Bridgeport Fire Department, Denton Fire Department Bomb Squad and Texas Department of Public Safety arrived on scene.
All departments are working with Bridgeport’s Devon command staff and Devon Incident Command Staff out of Oklahoma City. More information will be posted as it’s available.
