FIRE DEPARTMENT FUNDRAISER – The Greenwood-Slidell Volunteer Fire Department will hold its fundraiser 5 p.m. Saturday at the fire hall in downtown Greenwood following the annual Greenwood Fall Festival. The event will include a fish fry, live auction, live music by Salt Creek and Phil Hamilton and a raffle. FOOD AND CRAFTS – The First Presbyterian Church in Bridgeport will hold a Bake and Craft Sale 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. A lunch of beans, cornbread and tea will be served for $5. The church is located at 1307 Newby.
VETERANS PICNIC – The Wise County Veterans Council will host its annual Veterans Picnic for Wise County veterans and their families 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday in the Women’s Building at the Sheriff’s Posse Grounds in Decatur. The meal will include a free barbecue lunch with all the trimmings, desserts and beverages for as long as it lasts. Door prizes will be given away every 15 to 20 minutes until they are all gone. There will also be a sweet walk and a silent auction.
PUMPKIN DECORATING CONTEST – The Decatur Public Library invites teens 13 and older to enter the Otaku/Manga Pumpkin Decorating Contest. Pumpkins weighing 10 pounds or less will be accepted and must be decorated with manga, anime, or graphic novel-themed art (no carving).
