FAIRGROUND TALKS CONTINUE – The local fairgrounds and ongoing negotiations with the Wise County Sheriff’s Posse were discussed during committee reports at yesterday’s county commissioners meeting. Precinct 2 Commissioner Kevin Burns said the Wise County Fairgrounds Committee had met with Posse members, and they tried to reassure them that they would still have use of the property as they have in the past. ” But they want to see that in writing, and I feel like we can’t do that until it’s on the agenda,” Burns said. “I hope to resolve this amicably and make it to the best interest of both parties and all parties that use it.” Burns said the lease is up, and he feels like the county needs to start maintaining the property. Commissioners voted to put the issue on the Oct. 28 agenda. Read more in the midweek Messenger on newsstands tomorrow.
