4 ARRESTED IN HOME INVASION CASE – Investigators with the Wise County Sheriff’s Office have arrested four people allegedly involved with the violent Sept. 16 home invasion of an Alvord man. Officers found suspect William H. Williams, 20, of Bowie, hiding in an attic of a friend’s home in Forestburg. Michael Hilt, 24, of Bowie was arrested Tuesday night in Bowie, along with Erica M. Gauna, 21, also of Bowie. And Robert A. Brown, 27, was arrested Tuesday night in McKinney. Video surveillance set up inside the 39-year-old victim’s home captured images of three suspects. All four were taken to Wise County Jail and charged with burglary of a habitation. Justice of the Peace Precinct 2 Judge Teri Johnson set their bail at $150,000 each. They remain in custody.

Bealls-AdSEPTEMBER RAINFALL BELOW NORMAL – Rain showers were few and far between once again in September with only 1.91 inches of precipitation recorded, according to weather watcher Doyle Green in Decatur. That’s well below the average of 3.37 inches for September. That brings the total for the year to 23.48 inches. Temperatures in September ranged from a low of 48 on Sept. 30 to a high of 105 on Sept. 2.

RODEO – The Decatur Rodeo Team is hosting its rodeo at 8 p.m. Friday, 7 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Posse Grounds in Decatur. There will be a concession stand, silent auction, vendors and a raffle for a longhorn steer. You can purchase raffle tickets at the rodeo or in advance from any rodeo team member for $5 each or 5 for $20. A calf and steer scramble will be held each day. A dance will be held 9 p.m.-midnight Saturday at the rodeo. Saturday is also “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” night for Breast Cancer Awareness. Tickets at the gate are $5 per person. Chili’s in Decatur is also donating 15 percent of each ticket at their location to the team the weekend of the rodeo. FIRE DEPARTMENT FUNDRAISER – The Bridgeport Volunteer Fire Department’s annual barbecue cook-off and all-night 4×4 riding is Saturday, Oct. 19, at Northwest OHV Park. Live music featuring Cody Wells, Cody Robbins, Fezzent and Phil Hamilton starts at noon. There will also be washer pitchin’ and horseshoes tournaments and a kid’s area. Entry fee for the Lonestar Barbecue Society-sanctioned cook-off is $75. There is $3,000 in guaranteed prize money.
