MIGHT WE HIT 100? – The National Weather Service is forecasting a high of 99-100 degrees for Wise County today. Tomorrow’s temperature is forecast for 103. It would be the first time this year we have reached triple digit temperatures. The NWS suggests taking extra precautions if you are working or planning to spend extended amounts of time outside Friday afternoon and early evening.

SAFE ROOM REBATES – The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) will open an online waiting list for the Metro Safe Room Rebate Program at 8 a.m. Saturday for Wise County residents. The rebates use Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Hazard Mitigation Assistance grants to rebate customers up to 50 percent of the storm shelter costs up to $3,000 for applicants who meet certain criteria. SEVEN HILLS PRINCIPAL LEAVING – Northwest’s Seven Hills Elementary principal Stephanie Espinosa is moving across the district to serve as principal of the district’s Lakeview Elementary School in Trophy Club. Espinosa has been principal at Seven Hills in Newark for five years. She was previously a teacher at Lakeview.

BAKE SALE – Patti’s Hair Parlor in Decatur will hold a bake sale at 9 a.m. today to benefit the Decatur Cares summer feeding program. Baked goods and dinner entr es will be for sale.

LIBRARY PROGRAM - Children and parents are invited to Chico Public Library 11 a.m.-noon today to enjoy a visit from storyteller/musician Willy Welch.

PARADISE BOOSTER CLUB – The Paradise Booster Club has recently selected a new board and is seeking more parent involvement for the 2013-2014 school year. BLOOD DRIVE – Wise Regional Health System will hold a Carter BloodCare blood drive 8 a.m.-5 p.m. today in front of the hospital. A platelet drive will be held 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Call Annette Raley at (940) 626-0167 for more information.

JURY TRIAL CANCELED – The jury trial scheduled for 9 a.m. today in Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Jan Morrow’s courtroom in Decatur has been canceled.

HEALTH FORUM MEETING – The Wise County Health Forum meets 9 a.m. today at Decatur City Hall Community Room.

ALVORD SCHOOL BOARD – The Alvord ISD board of trustees plans to name a new member to replace Randy Hamilton, who resigned June 3. Appointing and swearing in that new member are highlights on the board’s agenda for tonight. They will meet at 7 p.m. at the administration building, 100 Mosley Lane. Also on tap are a proposal from the city of Alvord regarding property, a contract with North Texas Contracting for the massive concrete paving project which is already underway at the high school and middle school, budget amendments and a policy update.

FUNERALS – Graveside service for Winnie Blanche Wurst, 98, of Bridgeport is 2 p.m. today at Muleshoe Memorial Cemetery in Muleshoe. She was the mother of Charlene Blaylock of Bridgeport. Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport is handling arrangements.

SERVICES are pending for George Smith, 59, and James Welton Redwine, 87, both of Decatur, and Rhonda M. Sullens, 46, of Azle at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur.

FUNERAL for Mireya Gonzalez, 17, formerly of Decatur is 2 p.m. today at Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel with burial at Oaklawn Cemetery.

MEMORIAL service for Ivory Lee Powell, 72, of Bridgeport is 6 p.m. Saturday at the Powell residence, 604 FM 1658 in Bridgeport. Coker-Hawkins is handling arrangements.
