NEW VEHICLE FOR FIRE MARSHAL – Wise County commissioners approved Monday the purchase of a new pickup for Fire Marshal Chuck Beard. Beard said his current vehicle has broken down four times since he started May 13, but he would like to keep it as a reserve for his part-time employees to use and because it is capable of pulling the emergency management trailer. The current pickup has been in and out of the shop, and after he gets a new vehicle, it will return to the shop for significant repairs. In the new budget year, a part-time position will likely become a full-time post, and the current vehicle would continue to be used by that person. Commissioners will seek bids for an in-stock 2013 or 2014 model truck.

The active ingredients of the pesticide products generally break down quick and do not leave a toxic residue. The city suggests preventative measures such as keeping windows closed and fans off when they are spraying in the immediate area of your home, shutting off your air conditioners or setting them for recirculating indoor air, rinsing any homegrown fruits with water and keeping pets indoors during spraying to minimize their risk of exposure.
