NORTHWEST SCHOOL BOARD – For the second straight meeting, Northwest ISD assistant superintendent for facilities, planning and construction, Dennis McCreary, will take center stage before trustees to present an implementation schedule – this time for the 27 projects covered by the 2012 capital bond program approved last fall – at a board meeting at 6 tonight. The board will also discuss extending Superintendent Karen Rue’s contract along with a $2,863,591 guaranteed maximum price to upgrade the Northwest High School practice field to a subvarsity field that will alleviate scheduling conflicts for the district’s junior varsity and middle school athletic events.

REMEMBER NOT TO FORGET – The North Central Texas chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association meets 10 a.m. to noon Thursday, Feb. 7, at the Decatur Civic Center. Guest speaker Bert Hayslip with the University of North Texas will discuss factors that influence a person’s ability to remember and specific techniques for memory improvement. There is no charge, but registration is strongly encouraged by calling 800-272-3900.

SOCCER REGISTRATION – The Decatur Soccer Association will have registration 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2 and Feb. 9 at Hibbet Sports in Decatur.

SACK SENIOR HUNGER – Instead of eating out for lunch today the Wise County Committee on Aging encourages community members to bring their lunch from home and donate what would be spent by dining out to a circulated paper sack as part of the Sack Senior Hunger fundraiser. SOFTBALL MEETING – The Decatur Girls Softball Association meets at 6 tonight at Pizza Hut in Decatur. All coaches and parents are invited. The 2013 board members will be elected. For more information call Krisha at (817) 988-2817. Spring sign ups will take place during the month of February.

DAD AND DAUGHTER DANCE – Tickets are still available for the Bridgeport Parks and Recreation Department’s annual Dad and Daughter Dance Saturday at the Bridgeport Community Center. This year’s theme is “A Night Out on The Town.” Tickets are on sale at Bridgeport City Hall for $15 per couple, $5 for additional child. DIAMOND RAFFLE – The Decatur Woman’s Club is selling raffle tickets for a 1.75-carat diamond pendant necklace, set in 14-karat gold. Cost is $10 each, and tickets can be purchased from any member through Feb. 8. The drawing will be Feb. 12 and the winner awarded by Valentine’s Day. Proceeds benefit Butterfield Stage Stop Historical Marker, Bridgeport Women’s Prison Ministry, Wise Hope House and Decatur Educational Foundation.

STAAR MEETING – A STAAR/EOC informational meeting for parents is 6:30 tonight at Northwest High School Performing Arts Center. A student’s score on the STAAR End-of-Course exam could determine their graduation plan and whether or not they are eligible for a four-year university. Each meeting will share information regarding graduation requirements for students in eighth through tenth grades.

FUNERALS – Graveside service for David Fennell, 82, of Decatur is 2 p.m. today at Sweetwater Cemetery. Coker-Hawkins Funeral Home in Decatur is handling arrangements.

SERVICE for Billy L. Grantham, 59, of Bridgeport is pending at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport.
