FIRE DESTROYS DECATUR HOME – Fire destroyed a family’s brick home located in the 500 block of County Road 1111, west of Decatur just south of Farm Road 1810, yesterday morning. Decatur, Bridgeport and Alvord fire departments battled the fire for almost two hours on the cold, gray morning, but it was a total loss. The fire was called in about 9 a.m. Decatur Fire Department apparatus arrived a few minutes later, but Chief Mike Richardson said the fire had already been burning for about a half-hour before they arrived. Much of the roof was already gone. The home is owned by Michael and Ashly DoByns, who live in the home with their 1- and 4-year-old children. Nobody was home at the time of the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

RELAY KICKOFF – The Relay For Life of Wise County kickoff and first team meeting is 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at First Baptist Church of Decatur. Cake and punch will be served, and all teams will receive a prize for attending. For more information, call Stephanie at (940) 393-3165.

SINGLES MEETING – The North Texas Singles Club meets 6 p.m. Saturday at Cici’s Pizza in Decatur. Anyone is welcome to attend.

METER INFORMATION MEETING – The City of Bridgeport will host a meeting 6:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 14 at Bridgeport City Hall, 900 Thompson St., to provide the public with information about the new AMI system. Meter replacements will begin Monday, Jan. 7.

MISS TWISTER DANCE – Registration for Miss Twister Dance Spring Semester is now open, and will continue until all spots are filled. Once-a-week dance classes for ages 3-12 will be offered at the Bridgeport Community Center on Mondays and Wednesdays. SNOW CHANCES? – The National Weather Service says there is a slight chance of rain tonight before midnight, then a 20 percent chance of snow and rain tomorrow morning. The high temperature both today and tomorrow is expected to be 43.
