A 58-year-old Chico man was seriously injured after his motorcycle was struck by a white pickup in Bridgeport Friday afternoon.
The victim, whose name has been withheld pending notification of family, was flown to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth with “very critical” injuries to the head and torso area.
According to witnesses, the motorcyclist was westbound on the outside lane of Hovey Street when the white pickup pulled out from the south entrance to the James Wood Neighborhood Autos car lot. The motorcyclist laid the bike down and skidded about 20 yards before colliding with the left front end of the pickup and coming to a rest in the eastbound lanes of the road.
The accident occurred just after 6 p.m.
Bridgeport police and fire departments and Wise County medics and sheriff’s deputies responded.
