Four people were injured in a two-vehicle accident Wednesday night in front of Brookshire’s on U.S. 380 in Bridgeport.
A black Chevrolet pickup, driven by Madison Hancock, 19, of Bridgeport, left the grocery store parking lot about 7:20 p.m. and crossed the westbound lanes of 380. Hancock attempted to cross the eastbound lanes to Lawdwin Avenue but failed to yield to oncoming traffic, according to Corporal Lee Snodgrass with the Bridgeport Police Department.
Hancock’s vehicle was struck by an Oldsmobile Bravada, driven by Yesenia Aguilar, 32, of Bridgeport. Snodgrass said the front ends of the vehicles hit.
Two Wise County ambulances were dispatched to the scene, along with Rescue One. Yesenia and her 9-year-old son were transported to Wise Regional Health System in Decatur. Two of her daughters, ages 12 and 13, were transported to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth for precautionary measures, said Snodgrass. He said their injuries were probably not serious, but the 12-year-old had lacerations to her face.
Other passengers in the Bravada were taken to WRHS in Decatur by private vehicle to be checked out. They included Yesenia’s husband, Rafael Aguilar, 39, their 3-year-old daughter and 1-year-old son. Hancock was also taken to WRHS by private vehicle as a precaution.
