ROSS TRIAL STARTS TODAY – Suspended Precinct 4 County Commissioner Terry Ross is scheduled to face theft charges in district court this morning. The oft-delayed trial is set for 9 a.m. in the second-floor courtroom of the Wise County Courthouse where Ross will be tried for tampering with governmental records, theft of $500 to $1,500 by a public servant, and abuse of official capacity greater than $20 and less than $500. District Judge Roger Towery out of Clay County will hear the case that is being prosecuted by Tarrant County Assistant District Attorney Robert Gill. Ross will be represented by Fort Worth attorney Jerry Loftin. More than 20 people have been subpoenaed to possibly testify.
FALL HAS ARRIVED – Fall officially arrived yesterday afternoon, and it feels like it as temperatures this morning started off in the 50s. We’re expected to warm into the low 80s this afternoon. Friday’s rainfall totals included 0.95 of an inch in Alvord, 0.4 in Rhome and 0.31 in Decatur.

GOLF TOURNAMENT – Decatur Junior Woman’s Club’s 22nd Annual Park Classic Golf Tournament is Saturday, Oct. 12, at Decatur Golf and Country Club. Check-in begins at 8 a.m. with a 9 a.m. tee time. RODEO – The Decatur Rodeo Team will host their rodeo Oct. 4-6 at the Posse Grounds. It will include a concession stand, silent auction and a raffle for a longhorn steer. Purchase raffle tickets at the rodeo or in advance from any rodeo team member for $5 each or five for $20. Each day there will be a calf and steer scramble. There will also be a dance Saturday night after the rodeo. Tickets at the gate are $5. Chili’s in Decatur is also donating 15 percent of each ticket to the team the weekend of the rodeo.
