FAIRGROUNDS ON COMMISSIONERS AGENDA - Wise County commissioners will meet for the first time without County Judge Bill McElhaney today. McElhaney, who was serving his second term as county judge, died Oct. 14. Precinct 2 Commissioner Kevin Burns is currently fulfilling the judge’s duties and will preside over the meeting. The Wise County Fairgrounds Committee will give a report on their efforts to gain possession of the local fairgrounds. On Sept. 14, McElhaney announced in a commissioners meeting that the Wise County Sheriff’s Posse lease of the property would not be renewed. The regular meeting starts at 9 a.m. in the third floor conference room of the Wise County Courthouse. A public hearing will be held just before the meeting at 8:45 to discuss restricting truck traffic on Old Reunion Road in Precinct 1 and County Roads 1460, 1480, 1550 and 3001 in Precinct 2. Commissioners will consider taking action on this issue in the regular meeting.
