LADY EAGLES EARN TRIP TO STATE – The Decatur Lady Eagles volleyball team is moving on to the state tournament after a sweep of Spring Hill in the Class 3A Region II final Saturday. Decatur took the match 25-22, 25-15, 25-18. The Lady Eagles earned a trip to the regional final game with Friday’s win over North Lamar in three games, 25-9, 25-13, 25-8. Both games were played at Mesquite Poteet High School. Decatur will play Big Spring at 1 p.m. Friday at the Curtis Culwell Center in Garland. The winner of that game will play for the state championship on Saturday.

EAGLES WIN BI-DISTRICT GAME – The Decatur Eagles football team defeated Carrolton Ranchview 62-34 Friday in Lake Dallas in the bi-district round of the Class 3A Region II playoffs. They advance to the area round to play Wilmer-Hutchins 7:30 p.m. Friday at Grapevine’s Mustang-Panther Stadium. Two other county football teams had their playoff runs stopped Friday. Boyd lost to Van Alstyne 35-8, and Northwest lost to Arlington Lamar 36-29.

ROLLOVER INJURES 2 – Two men were injured in a one-vehicle rollover south of Decatur early Monday morning. Both were transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth – one by ground ambulance, the other by helicopter. The driver, Osei Ageyman Leonard, 49, of Grand Prairie was flown due to a crushed foot and facial injuries. He was trapped inside the car and had to be extricated. His passenger, Meaxwell Brefo, 32, of Arlington was transported by ground ambulance. Investigators believe the car was northbound on U.S. 81/287 when, for unknown reasons, it left the roadway, near Farm Road 2264. The car rolled several times before coming to a rest on the driver’s side in the median. Decatur Fire Department, Decatur police officers, Wise County medics and a state trooper responded to the accident, which was called in just after midnight.

TEEN INJURED IN CRASH – A Rhome teenager was injured in a one-vehicle rollover east of Chico early Sunday morning. Investigators believe Miguel Infante, 19, was eastbound on Farm Road 1810, near the Sandy Creek bridge, when he lost control of the 1996 Ford pickup he was driving just after 4 a.m. The pickup rolled across the westbound lanes and shoulder, before coming to a rest at the bottom of a ravine on the north side of the road. Infante was pinned in the vehicle and possibly fractured his left arm. He was flown to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening. Both lanes of 1810 were shut down to land the helicopter on the road. Chico Volunteer Fire Department, Wise County medics and state troopers responded.

MOVIE RELEASE PARTY – The Decatur Public Library will host a “Catching Fire” movie release party at 4 p.m. Tuesday in anticipation of the second movie in the Hunger Games trilogy. Teens and tweens are invited to enjoy “Catching Fire” trivia, activities, games and district-inspired snacks. No signup is required. Call the library at 940-393-0290 for more information.

THANKSGIVING DINNER – Decatur Senior Citizens will host a Thanksgiving dinner at noon Thursday at their center, 1200 N. Miller, in Decatur. If you would like to bring a dessert or side dish, please feel free. There is no charge, and all senior citizens are welcome.

TOY RUN DONATIONS – This year the City of Bridgeport’s employees would like to help with donations to the Wise County Toy Run. The Wise County Toy Run assists in providing toys to children that may not have a Christmas otherwise. This event will take place on Saturday, Dec. 1. If you would like to donate, you can bring new, unwrapped toys to Bridgeport City Hall now through Friday. For more information, call Judy Rawle at 940-683-3400.

SOCIETY MEETING – The Wise County Fossil, Rock and Mineral Society’s annual Thanksgiving meal and meeting is 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Wesley Center of the First United Methodist Church in Decatur. Visitors are welcome.

DEMOCRATS TO MEET – The Wise County Democratic Party will meet at 6:15 tonight in the courtroom of the Wise County Law Enforcement Center, 200 Rook Ramsey Dr. in Decatur.

4-H MEETING – The Decatur 4-H Club meets 6 p.m. today at the Extension office, 206 S. State St., in Decatur.

FUNERALS – Service for Jo Price Davis, 53, of Bridgeport is 3 p.m. Thursday at Hawkins Funeral Home Chapel in Bridgeport with burial at Thomas Cemetery. Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

MEMORIAL service for Victor (Vic) Reynolds, 73, of Chico is 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hawkins Chapel. Family visitation is 1-2 p.m. Wednesday.

NO SERVICE is scheduled for Glenda Shepherd, 77, of Paradise. Hawkins-Bridgeport is handling arrangements.

MEMORIAL service for Melvan Dale Young, 66, of Riverside, formerly of Bridgeport, will be held at a later date. Brooke Funeral Services is handling arrangements.
