RAIN, THEN WIND, THEN SNOW? — A line of showers moved through Wise County this morning, and there is a chance of more rain throughout the day. Winds are also expected to increase this afternoon to 25 to 35 miles per hour with wind gusts as high as 45 miles per hour. Precipitation this afternoon and overnight could include a rain and snow mix, although no accumulations are expected. Today’s forecast high is 51 with an overnight low of 33.
LADY BULLDOGS FALL IN REGION FINAL — After winning their regional semifinal game 58-29 over Chapel Hill Friday night, the Alvord Lady Bulldogs fell to Brock 46-36 in the regional final game Saturday afternoon.
BOYS TEAMS ELIMINATED — The two Wise County boys basketball teams still alive in the playoffs both lost Friday in area-round games. A 19-0 run in the second quarter by Dallas Roosevelt sent the Mustangs to a 66-43 win over Decatur. Chico fell to Stamford 67-50.
SHOW OFF YOUR COOP — The 2013 Wise Chicks Coop Tour is looking for poultry enthusiasts to show off their coops for the 3rd annual event being held 10 a.m.-4 p.m. April 20. If you are interested in showing your coop, contact tour coordinator at firstname.lastname@example.org.
HISTORICAL SOCIETY — The Wise County Historical Society will meet for lunch noon Thursday at the Wise County Heritage Museum. Treva Tindol Dawson, author of “Memories Along the Chisholm Trail” will speak.
PREPARING FOR COLLEGE — Junior Parent Night is 6 tonight at the Bridgeport High School Library. All juniors and their parents are invited. Exit level TAKS testing, SAT/ACT testing and the college admission process will be discussed.
GOSPEL OPRY — The monthly Gospel Opry is at 7 tonight in the G. C. Rann Little Theater on the second floor of the Wise County Heritage Museum. Admission is free, but an offering will be accepted toward the expenses of the Museum.

OPENING DAY CEREMONY AND SUPPER — Meet the 2013 Alvord High School softball and baseball teams and thank the donors of their new facility at an Opening Day Ceremony and Supper at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the baseball and softball fields at AHS. A meal of brisket sandwiches or hot dogs plus chips and a drink will be served for $5. New T-shirts will be sold and a Home Run Derby will be held for boys and girls in three age divisions.

NORTHWEST SCHOOL BOARD — Northwest ISD trustees will discuss using the construction-manager-at-risk process to build the district’s new high school when they meet at 7 tonight at the Administration Building, 2001 Texan Drive in Justin. The board will also make a decision on refunding bond notes to lower the interest cost to the district’s taxpayers, which was discussed at the Feb. 11 meeting. Kim Schultz will present the annual Education Foundation report and Jon Graswich an overview of January financials and investments.
