EARTHQUAKE MEETING SCHEDULED – Texas Railroad Commissioner David Porter will hold a town hall meeting 5-7 p.m. Thursday at the Azle High School auditorium located at 1200 Boyd Road to discuss the recent earthquakes in the area. He said he will listen to residents’ concerns and outline what he plans to do. All local residents who’ve felt the earthquakes are encouraged to attend and voice their concerns. More than 30 earthquakes have shaken up residents of the area over the past two months, including two of 3.3 magnitude last week. ALVORD FIRE – The cause of a fire Friday morning north of Alvord has been ruled accidental, likely caused by an electrical short, according to Wise County Fire Marshal Chuck Beard. The home in the 200 block of Private Road 2698 belonging to Larry “Buck” Cope and his wife, Debbie, sustained heavy damage in the fire. “It looks like it started under the trailer and ran all under there until it broke through into the living room and master bedroom, in the front half of the home,” Beard said. CHILLY MONDAY – The work week got off to a cool start as the temperature in Decatur was 22 degrees at 7:45 a.m. The high today is expected to reach only 43 degrees with an overnight low of 29, according to the National Weather Service.
GOSPEL OPRY – The public is invited to the monthly Gospel Opry sing-along at 7 tonight in the Wise County Heritage Museum, 1602 S. Trinity Street, in Decatur. Admission is free, but an offering will be accepted toward continued operation of the museum.
ANIMAL SHELTER – Wise County Animal Shelter will close at 1 p.m. tomorrow and will be closed Wednesday. The shelter will reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday.
RUNAWAY BAY TRASH – Because of the New Year holiday, trash pickup in Runaway Bay will be delayed a day from Wednesday, Jan. 1, to Thursday, Jan. 2.

FUNERAL for Lonnie Joel Vandergriff, 64, of Chico is 2 p.m. Thursday at Hawkins Funeral Home in Bridgeport with burial at Olive Branch Cemetery. Family visitation is 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
MEMORIAL service for Winnie Charlene Blaylock, 72, of Bridgeport is tentatively set for 2 p.m. Saturday at Hawkins-Bridgeport.
