2 ARRESTED IN PARADISE BURGLARY CASE – Two suspects in the burglary of Tobacco Town in Paradise have been arrested. Wednesday night, the red semi-tractor seen in security video was located in Fort Worth. With the help of the Fort Worth Police Department, Wise County Sheriff’s investigators arrested two people in connection with the burglary: Clark Edward Redmon, 48, of Springtown, and Maria Kristine Shone, 29, of Fort Worth. Both were booked into the Wise County Jail on one count of burglary of a building. According to a sheriff’s office press release, additional felony charges could follow within the next 48 hours as investigators execute search warrants to gain additional physical evidence. The Paradise burglary took place Sept. 29.
ABSENT LEADERS – Rhome’s city council meeting ended prematurely when the council lost quorum after only getting through half the items on last night’s agenda. The meeting began with only three members present. Charles Pennington and Ronnie Moore were absent. Right before the council arrived at the most contentious items, the paid first responder position and an update on the park pavilion, council member Jo Ann Wilson gathered her paperwork and left, leaving the council with only two members present. A city council must have at least three members present to hold a meeting. Council member Louis Godfrey said he would make sure the items are on the agenda next month, or however long it takes, to be discussed publicly.

FALL FESTIVAL AND BLOOD DRIVE – The First United Methodist Church of Boyd will host a blood drive by Carter BloodCare 9 a.m.-noon Saturday during its Lord’s Acre Fall Festival. A homemade turkey dinner will be served from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. followed by a live auction at 1:30 p.m.

VETERANS PICNIC – The Wise County Veterans Council will host its annual Veterans Picnic for Wise County veterans and their families 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday in the Women’s Building at the Sheriff’s Posse Grounds in Decatur. The meal will include a free barbecue lunch with all the trimmings, desserts and beverages for as long as it lasts. Door prizes will be given away every 15 to 20 minutes until they are all gone.
