STOLEN CAR FOUND IN LAKE — A game warden found a car submerged in Lake Bridgeport last night. A dive team was dispatched, but nobody was found inside. The car, which has been reported stolen by the Denton Police Department, was removed from the lake.
SPRAYING FOR MOSQUITOES — On Monday, the City of Bridgeport will begin city-wide ground spraying for mosquitoes. The spraying will begin after 10 p.m. and run no later than 6 a.m. Friday. The pesticide being used to spray is called Aqualuer 20-20. To protect you and your family, the city recommends that you stay indoors during spraying. The active ingredients of the pesticide products generally break down quick and do not leave a toxic residue. The city also advises residents to take their own mosquito precautions, drain all standing water and keep grass cut short in order to prevent mosquito breeding. OZONE ALERT DAY — The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) has issued an ozone action day for the Dallas-Fort Worth area, which includes Wise County, for today. Atmospheric conditions are expected to be favorable for producing high levels of ozone air pollution in the DFW area. The National Weather Service is predicting another hot day in Wise County with high temperatures around 101 degrees.
MOVIE DAY AT THE LIBRARY — Saturday is Family Movie Day at Decatur Public Library. The family film “Brave” will be showing on the library’s big screen at 11 a.m. All ages are invited. The library will provide popcorn, or guests may bring their own snacks.
