COMMAND CENTER NEARLY READY – Commissioners Wednesday approved a line item transfer of $12,000 of money already budgeted for the county’s incident command vehicle to purchase computers. The mobile unit will be able to respond to disaster or other emergency situations. “It’s definitely a good asset,” Sheriff David Walker said. “We’ve never had anything that nice before.” Walker said he will bring the vehicle to the next commissioner’s meeting on Jan. 14.

YOUTH FAIR TAG IN – Wise County Youth Fair tag in is 8-11 a.m. Saturday at the Sheriff’s Posse Grounds. Animals to be tagged are market goats, market sheep, market hogs, non registered beef heifers and non registered boer doe over 3 months of age. Scrapie tags must be in the ear at tag in. Cost is $5.

HOOPLA – Alvord Basketball Hoopla is 6 tonight at the Alvord High School Gym. The event will include food, basketball T-shirts and a cake auction. All Alvord basketball teams will be recognized from peewee through high school.

HABITAT ORIENTATION – Trinity Habitat for Humanity will have homeowner orientations at 10 a.m. Saturdays, Jan. 5, Feb. 2, and March 2, at First United Methodist Church in Bridgeport, 608 17th St. Those interested in building and owning a home through the organization are invited. WEIGHT LOSS – Wise County’s Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service is sponsoring Step Up & Scale Down, a 12-week weight management program. The series begins Tuesday, Jan. 8, and continues weekly through March at the Extension office. The program will consist of weekly lessons, weight check-in, weekly challenge and healthy recipes. SNOW CHANCES SLIM – National Weather Service forecasters predict a 20 percent chance of rain today with a 20 percent chance of rain and snow after midnight. Temperatures are expected to remain above freezing. Today’s high is expected to reach 45, with highs Saturday and Sunday reaching the low- to mid-50s.
