Fire destroys Alvord home


A two-story, wood frame duplex near downtown Alvord was destroyed by fire Tuesday night. The fire, in the 300 block of West Franklin Street behind Market Place, was reported around 8:15 p.m. Alvord, Decatur, Chico and Sunset fire departments responded to battle the blaze. An ambulance was also dispatched to provide rehab for firefighters. The home was occupied, but the resident was not at home at the time of the fire. The cause of the fire had not been determined late Tuesday.
