A long-time employee of the City of Bridgeport was injured Tuesday morning around 11 near the intersection of 14th Street and Cates Street. Bridgeport Police Chief Randy Singleton said Lupe Salazar sustained a serious injury to his lower leg while trying to load a compactor onto a trailer following a patch job on the street. The road sloped slightly, and the compactor fell, pinning Salazar’s leg briefly. He was taken to Wise Regional in Bridgeport and then flown to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth.
