2 injured in Friday wreck

Two were transported to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth after the small pick-up they were traveling in was hit broadside on U.S. 81/287 south of Decatur around noon Friday.
The driver, Michaela Nelson, 19, and her passenger, Rebeca Black sustained head injuries, however they did not appear to be life-threatening.
The driver of the passenger car that hit them, Dennie Darnell of Alvord, was not injured.
According to witnesses, Darnell was southbound on the highway when Nelson attempted to crossover from the County Road 4228, NRS.
Darnell, who said he was driving about 70 mph, was not able to stop, t-boning the driver’s side of the pick-up.
“I’m amazed, and so thankful, they’re OK,” Darnell said.
Wise County EMS, Decatur Fire Department and state troopers responded.
An off-duty medic also rendered assistance.
